Professionals with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry shared hygiene kits as well as tips on dental health during a recent food giveaway in the Van Nuys neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley, according to an article in the Los Angeles Daily News.
Organized by the Central Lutheran Church in Van Nuys, the mobile pantry distributes free food to underserved communities on a weekly basis. On January 11, it also offered the guidance on dental care, which may be difficult to access for the same population.
Tips on brushing and flossing, dental hygiene supply kits, and information about insurance in a range of different languages for lower income residents were distributed by UCLA School of Dentistry community liaisons Elizabeth Brummel and Cynthia Cervantes.
