The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH) have released a joint statement urging that only properly educated and licensed professionals provide dental hygiene care.
The statement is in response to recent U.S. laws allowing unqualified individuals to perform hygiene services. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining standards to protect patients and notes that licensed dental hygienists complete 84 to 120 credit hours of training before entering the profession.
