Thanks to a Massachusetts dental practice, Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White really had something to smile about at the National Basketball Association (NBA) team’s victory parade through Beantown, according to multiple news reports.

Dr. Joey Chang, an oral surgeon at Boston Dental, temporarily fixed White’s teeth just in time for the 2024 NBA champion Celtics' parade through Boston on June 21 in celebration of winning the title over the Dallas Mavericks. During Game 5 on June 17, White chipped a tooth and had two others knocked loose when his face was driven into the floor. Mavericks center Dereck Lively II fell on him when White dove for a ball.

White spent more than two hours in the dentist chair during two visits to get his smile back. Since the fix was only temporary, more dental work will be in White’s future.

After the work, White said, “Shout out to Boston Dental, y'all are clutch.”

Despite his dental damage, a bloodied White continued playing in Game 5 even getting that ball he was after to a teammate for an easy layup.
