A 46-year-old dentist and father of three was found dead on February 25, a day after he was caught in an avalanche while snowmobiling with a group in the back country near a ski resort in Alberta, Canada, according to multiple news articles.
Dr. Scott Walburger and another person were caught in the snow slide on February 24. While the other person managed to escape, Walburger became buried under the snow and was found deceased the next day, according to reports.
Walburger was the president and owner of Choice Dental Group, which operates Medicine Hat Dental, Lethbridge Dental Services South, and Crossings Dental in Canada. Employees of Crossings Dental shared their thoughts about the dentist in a statement posted on the practice’s Facebook page.
Walburger was remembered as "an extraordinary individual" who was a dentist as well as "a beacon of healing, education, and unwavering dedication to the highest standard of care," according to the Facebook post.
In addition to touching countless lives within the community for decades, Walburger left "an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of crossing his path," the post from the practice stated. Above all, the dentist will be remembered as a selfless family man who was a devoted husband, dedicated father to his three children, and an inspiration to all, according to the statement.
"Let us honor Dr. Walburger’s memory by upholding the values of compassion, integrity, and dedication that he exemplified every day," according to practice.
