Midmark to buy digital radiography firm

Midmark has entered into an agreement to acquire Progeny, a manufacturer of radiographic imaging products for the dental market, according to the company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ed McDonough, Progeny's founder and president, will join Midmark as vice president and general manager of its newly created imaging division and will continue to lead the Lincolnshire, IL-based team.

"Midmark is a global leader in the markets we serve," said Midmark President and CEO Anne Eiting Klamar, M.D., in a press release. "Progeny's top-quality equipment will allow us to expand our line of products that are critical to the delivery of efficient patient care."

Progeny entered the dental market in 2002. In addition to intraoral x-ray products, the company manufactures digital imaging sensors, intraoral cameras, and the software used to integrate these various images into a patient's electronic record. Progeny employs approximately 75 people.
