Mobile dentistry comes to Louisville, St. Paul

Louisville, KY, and St. Paul, MN, will both get new mobile dental vans, according to news reports.

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness announced it has purchased a 40-ft, $387,000 mobile dental health vehicle.

The Louisville van comes with two dental chairs and digital imaging capability. A dentist, two dental assistants, and a driver who will double as a dental clerk will staff it. The unit will provide dental services three days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, at clinics sites on Dixie Highway and in Middletown and Newburg.

Meanwhile, Ronald McDonald House Charities has sponsored a 40-ft van for St. Paul children, according to MinnPost.com.

The St. Paul vehicle has two dental stations for hygiene and restorative work and a reception station. It will provide exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, x-rays, fillings and extractions, along with dental education, and will travel to schools, churches, public health, and community centers in the 13-county St. Paul metro area.
