Wis. dental association announces new officers

Kent Vandehaar, D.D.S., a general dentist who lives and practices in Chippewa Falls, was sworn in as the 138th president of the 2,900-member Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA) on Nov. 14, 2009, during the organization’s annual House of Delegates meeting in Stevens Point.

Dr. Vandehaar joined the WDA leadership team in 2002 as a trustee representing Northwest Region 1. He was elected WDA vice president in November 2007 and president-elect in November 2008.

He also currently represents WDA and Michigan Dental Association members on the ADA Council on Dental Practice through fall 2010.

President-Elect Eugene Shoemaker, D.D.S., lives and practices general dentistry in Waukesha, WI. Shoemaker joined the WDA Board of Trustees in 2003 as a representative of Southeast Region 4. Prior to that, he held every major leadership post with the Waukesha Country Dental Society. Shoemaker is currently chairing his second WDA and WDA Foundation Mission of Mercy to be held in Sheboygan on June 25-26, 2010, which is expected to deliver $1 million in charitable dental care to 2,000 children and adults.

Vice President Steve Stoll, D.D.S., has a general dental practice in Neenah, WI, and lives in Menasha. He served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps from 1976-1980, during which time he also completed a general practice residency. Dr. Stoll has been a trustee for the WDA's Northeast Region 2 since 2003.
