The NYU College of Dentistry has officially banned smoking, according to a story on nyunews.com.
In addition to no smoking inside the building, a smoking ban within 15 feet from any part of the exterior of the building (including all entrances and exits) is now in place, according to an e-mail sent out by Michael O'Connor, the school's executive associate dean for administration and finance.
School administrators are considering a similar university-wide ban, the story said.
The policy was implemented in accordance with a recent New York State Department of Health mandate that established no-smoking policies for certain institutions, including dental schools and dental hygiene training programs.
