A free mobile service that provides dental care to homeless individuals in London has received praise from England's chief dental officer (CDO) and could be launched across Britain next year, according to a news article on Dentistry.co.uk.
Sponsored by the National Health Service (NHS), the service is on trial in London until May 2010 and could soon move into other British cities with a large homeless community.
"The NHS has made fantastic progress in improving access to dentistry, but we need to do more to reach people who still have difficulty accessing services, whatever the reason," said CDO Barry Cockcroft in the article. "That's why we're working with existing services for homeless people to give them information on where they can go for treatment."
