Stimulus funds pay for Calif. clinic

More than $2 million in funds from the U.S. federal stimulus package will go to Solano County, CA, to build a community dental clinic in Vacaville, CA, according to the Reporter.

The Health Resources and Services Administration is awarding $2.2 million through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to add a six-chair, 3,000-sq-ft clinic to the 25,000-sq-ft William J. Carroll Government Center, the Reporter stated.

The county expects to break ground on the project in December and open the clinic in 2012, the story noted.

In addition to general dentistry, the clinic will provide underserved people with oral surgery and general anesthesia, and will screen patients for hypertension, diabetes, and other diseases, referring them to other county facilities as needed.
