An Australian grandmother who got tired of waiting for her local dental clinic to see her about a bad tooth has taken matters into her own hands, according to a story in a Perth newspaper.
Una Fogarty, 65, told the Warwick Daily News that she no longer bothers calling the Warwick Dental Clinic, in a suburb of Perth, after trying in vain for years to get appointments for her and her family. Since the family can't afford to see a private dentist and they live in a remote area, they've learned to take care of their own health problems, she said.
In this case, the self-described "tough old bird" bought several bottles of whiskey and rum, handed her daughter some pliers, and said "go for it," according to the report.
So is it hard to pull out a tooth with a pair of pliers?
"Not really -- if you twist it a couple of times it'll come straight out -- but you have to be pretty tipsy not to feel the pain," she told the Warwick Daily News.
