Tenn. free clinic event short on dentists

Organizers working to fill out the volunteer corps of a Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic have only 14 of the 30 dentists they hope to have for the event, scheduled for October 8-10 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN, according to a story by WCYB News.

It will be the first event of its kind at the race track. RAM organizers believe that 80% of those attending will seek dental help, the story noted.

RAM events, staffed by volunteers and publicly supported, provide free healthcare, dental care, eye care, and veterinary care to remote and underserved regions in the U.S. and around the world.

Volunteers can be retired or actively working, but they need a state license to participate and will be insured. Those wishing to commit their time may apply online or simply show up at the event with their license.
