Air Force dentists provide care to Congolese

Air Force dentists arrived in the Congo earlier this month to give dental care to residents of Kinshasa and U.S. embassy staff and families as part of a medical training exercise, according to an article in the Air Force Reserve Command.

Roughly 35 patients received treatment from three Air Force Reserve dentists, who worked alongside Congolese military dentists as part of Medical Flag 2010.

Medical professionals from both nations examined the importance of oral hygiene and preventative care together in a classroom setting for several days to prepare for the humanitarian effort. Subsequently, the team expected to examine about 2,000 Congolese citizens and offer care over a four-day span.

A family member of an embassy worker who had received treatment was grateful, saying that she had been trying to visit a dentist for about two years.
