Smile Generation dentists serve the needy in Fiji

On July 14, seven members of the Smile Generation -- a referral service for dentists -- headed to the Mission at Natuvu Creek on the island of Vanua Levu, Fiji, to provide free dental services to those in need.

With four dentists and three staff members, the team was able to see 325 patients, focusing mostly on extractions but also providing quite a few restorations. "Our No. 1 priority was to help those in severe pain, so we treated them first and then we were able to provide fillings to the other patients in need," said Ashleigh Harrison, DDS, from Cherry Creek Modern Dentistry in Glendale, CO. "The patients were so gracious and so appreciative that it was a pleasure to serve them."

Other members of the volunteer group included Kenneth Burson, DDS, from Falcon Park Dental Group in Highlands Ranch, CO; Kelsey Majors, DDS, from Arvada Modern Dentistry in Arvada, CO; and Tanisha Jackson, DDS, from Redlands Dental Group in Redlands, CA.
