Biolase Q4 revenues up 36%

Biolase reported net revenues of $13.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2011 (end- December 31), a 36% increase over revenues of $9.7 million in the same quarter for 2010.

The increase was primarily driven by Biolase's exit from an exclusive distribution arrangement in August 2010 with Henry Schein and the company's return to a direct sales and selected-distributor business model.

Net revenues for 2011 (end-December 31) were $48.9 million, up 87% from $26.2 million in 2010.

Approximately 69% of Biolase's revenues for the fourth quarter of 2011 and 60% of revenues for the year 2011 were from the sale of its all-tissue Waterlase systems, the majority of which have been the sales of the flagship Waterlase iPlus.

Sales of the company's diode laser systems accounted for approximately 12% of total fourth-quarter revenue and 19% of total 2011 revenue.
