Oral health group promotes 'Wellness Wednesday'

The American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH) has designated the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving as Wellness Wednesday as part of its Campaign for Healthier Holidays.

Many people are stressed out, sleep-deprived, tired, inactive, and overweight by the end of the holiday season, noted AAOSH President Dan Sindelar, DDS. And this time of year, there are spikes in some of the biggest health problems, such as heart attacks, strokes, and complications from diabetes, he added.

Proper oral health reduces healthcare costs by 20% tp 25% and adds six to 10 good years to life, according to the AAOSH.
