Hawaii-based soldiers of the 9th Mission Support Command traveled to American Samoa in March to provide dental care to more than 250 American Samoa-based reserve soldiers.
Soldiers stationed at the Pele U.S. Army Reserve Center in Pago Pago received prophys, examinations, restorations, root canals, and extractions -- dental care that is not readily available in the remote islands, according to a military news story.
Also participating were soldiers of the 143rd Dental Company, based in Salt Lake City, and civilians with Logistics Health.
The team spent nearly two weeks in American Samoa. This is the third year the 9th Mission Support Command has sent teams to provide dental care to the Samoa-based reservists, and they have treated more than 700 reservists to date.
