Henry Schein invests in South Africa

Henry Schein has acquired a minority ownership of Dental Warehouse, a distributor of dental consumable merchandise in South Africa.

Dental Warehouse has 64 employees and annual revenues of approximately $10 million. The company offers branded consumables products to dentists, private clinics, universities, and governmental agencies in South Africa. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

As part of a strategic partnership with Henry Schein, Litha Healthcare Group has also acquired a minority interest in Dental Warehouse. Litha offers a range of medical devices and consumables, which will provide Dental Warehouse with additional access to new products and technologies.

Economic reforms in South Africa have accelerated the emergence of a new middle class, and consumers are increasingly benefiting from private health insurance and access to dental care, according to Henry Schein.

The expansion into South Africa brings Henry Schein's global operations to 25 countries across North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia.
