When it comes to your dental patients, there are certainly plenty of options out there on how you can help them improve their oral health. However, Susan Wingrove, RDH, believes bringing GC America products into the practice could provide benefits on a number of levels.
During a recent episode of "The DrBicuspid.com Podcast," sponsored by GC America, Wingrove explained why she believes the MI Paste family with Recaldent technology is an important weapon in the fight against oral disease.
"Recaldent is a very important ingredient in the GC products," Wingrove told me. "We just need to understand what it does, because I think there's a lot of misunderstanding about it. It has a CPP in it, a milk protein peptide, that helps bind the calcium and the phosphate. It stabilizes any fluoride that they put in their products. You don't have to worry about lactate- or lactose-free people who have to avoid dairy, so I think that right away needs to be emphasized. And then the ACP that they put into the Recaldent, as they call it -- kind of a combination of things together -- helps remineralize and decrease xerostomia. And a big thing for me is that it stabilizes the pH in the mouth. I think that's what really is the big wow with that ingredient."
